Paraprofessional

The South Macoupin Association for Special Education is seeking a Classroom Assistant for immediate employment. The location of the position is in the Ben-Gil Elementary School. If interested, please send the following: Resume and Job Application (available at www.smaseschools.org).

If you do not currently hold a Paraprofessional License, you may obtain the license if you meet the following criteria:

  1. Be at least 19 years of age and;
  2. Show proof of one (1) of the following requirements:
    1. Associate’s degree or higher; or
    2. 60 semester hours of coursework; or
    3. High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS ParaPro test; or
    4. High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Work Keys test:
      • Applied Mathematics/Applied Math — 4
      • Reading for Information/Workplace Documents — 4

School Social Worker or Counselor

SMASE is seeking a school social worker or counselor for the 2020-2021 school year. The social worker/counselor is responsible for providing individual and group counseling to special education students, writing and implementing IEP goals, participating in special education evaluations, providing outside resources to families, and providing behavioral strategies and support.

Special Education Teacher

SMASE is seeking two special education teachers for the 2020-2021 school year. One position is for an elementary instructional classroom, and one is for a middle school instructional classroom. Qualified applicants will hold a Professional Educator’s License endorsed in special education.

Speech and Language Pathologist

SMASE is seeking a full time SLP for the 2020-2021 school year. The SLP will provide direct service to students in instructional classrooms in Staunton and Gillespie school districts. A Professional Educator License with School Service Personnel endorsement for a Speech and Language Pathologist is required.
