If you do not currently hold a Paraprofessional License, you may obtain the license if you meet the following criteria:

  1. Be at least 19 years of age and;
  2. Show proof of one (1) of the following requirements:
    1. Associate’s degree or higher; or
    2. 60 semester hours of coursework; or
    3. High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS ParaPro test; or
    4. High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Work Keys test:
      • Applied Mathematics/Applied Math — 4​
      • Reading for Information/Workplace Documents — 4

The South Macoupin Association for Special Education is seeking a full-time school social worker, counselor or psychologist for placement in the Gillespie and Mt. Olive School Districts for the 2022-2023 school year. The successful candidate will teach social and communication skills to students with disabilities; provide individual and small group therapy services as per IEPs; provide outreach services to families of students; participate on IEP teams for both initial and reevaluations for special education eligibility; be a liaison for families regarding information/community resources; and provide leadership in initiatives and programs relevant to social services for students.

SMASE is seeking a long term substitute for an elementary special education teacher beginning on or around September 1, 2022 and lasting for approximately six weeks in the Staunton Elementary School. The substitute teacher will teach a small class of Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students with various disabilities, focusing on social/emotional needs.

SMASE is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for the 2022-2023 school year. The BCBA will provide Applied Behavior Analysis as it relates to behavior and acceptance to students with disabilities. The BCBA will recommend and provide behavioral interventions, create and lead social groups, and participate in the development and implementation of IEP goals. Students served will be in the Gillespie CUSD 7 and Mt. Olive CUSD 5 school districts. This is a permanent position following a typical school calendar, with summers off. Competitive salary is determined by experience and qualifications.
