Job Summary:

The School Psychologist or Educational Diagnostician is a key member of the team providing services to students in our schools. The School Psychologist or Educational Diagnostician will be responsible for evaluating students for special education services and assisting schools with academic interventions. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and administering educational assessments.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting assessments of student learning, social, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Collaborating with school staff to provide support and advice on educational and behavioral needs
  • Communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Preparing reports for IEP meetings

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in school psychology preferred. Candidates with degrees in other areas of psychology or education will be considered if the candidate has the ability to learn to administer educational evaluations.
  • Experience working with children
  • Must be able to work well independently as well as part of a team. Must be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and needs. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

School Social Worker or Counselor for the 2024-2025 School Year

The school social worker or counselor will provide individual and group therapy to students with disabilities, provide behavioral interventions both directly and indirectly, serve as a resource to parents and staff, as well as complete appropriate paperwork.

A Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling is required. The state of Illinois requires a Professional Educator’s License to work in the school setting. There are opportunities and pathways to achieve this designation if candidates do not have degrees in School Social Work or School Counseling. All candidates with an MA in any area of social work or counseling will be considered.

About us

South Macoupin Association for Special Education provides special education services for Mt. Olive CUSD 5, Staunton CUSD 6, and Gillespie CUSD 7. Our teachers and paraprofessionals work to educate students with disabilities in classrooms located in these school districts.
