School Psychologist

SMASE is seeking a full time, permanent school psychologist for the 2019-2020 school year.

The School Psychologist works for the four member districts of the South Macoupin Association for Special Education. This position reports directly to the Director and Supervisors of Special Education.

Responsibilities and Performance Expectations include:

  1. Gather and analyze data and observations for students who have been referred for special education services
  2. Coordinate and hold domains reviews for special education evaluations
  3. Select and conduct assessments appropriately
  4. Report assessment data in a clear, concise and thorough manner.
  5. Interpret assessment and MTSS data in order to recommend special education eligibility
  6. Provide consultation to staff regarding assessment, MTSS and interpretation of results
  7. Work with MTSS staff in order to provide recommendations for interventions and/or data interpretation
  8. Demonstrate collaborative problem solving in a positive manner with all members of the educational team
  9. Follow policies and procedures of the cooperative
  10. Know and follow all aspects of school law as it relates to the profession

The applicant must hold a Professional Educator’s License with a School Psychologist endorsement.

Classroom Assistant

The South Macoupin Association for Special Education is seeking THREE Classroom Paraprofessionals for the 2019-2020 school year. The location of the positions are in the Staunton Elementary school, Staunton High School and Gillespie High School. School Psychologist Intern

SMASE is happy to provide internship opportunities for two psychologist interns.  The psychologist works for four member districts of the South Macoupin Association for Special Education. The intern will have a primary supervising psychologist who is based in the Gillespie and Bunker Hill school districts or the Mt. Olive and Staunton school districts. All districts have unique programs and characteristics, and all serve students from pre-kindergarten to High School. If interested, please send application materials to :

School Social Worker Intern

SMASE is happy to provide an internship for a school social worker for the 2019-2020 school year. The SSW intern will work with an experienced, dynamic social worker in the Staunton and Bunker Hill school districts. The SSW will have the opportunity to work with students from Pre-K to age 21 and to collaborate with a varity of other professionals.
