Notice of Records Destruction: On May 24, 2023, in accordance with the Illinois State Board of Education’s rules and regulations governing school records and with the Illinois School Student Act of 1975, South Macoupin Association for Special Education will destroy the Special Education Records of students who transferred, graduated, or withdrew from the school in 2018 or earlier.  Student records affected are Mt. Olive CUSD 5, Staunton CUSD 6, Gillespie CUSD 7, and Bunker HIll CUSD 8.  To obtain copies of records before originals are destroyed, former students or their legal guardians may contact the SMASE office at 618-635-8230, or visit the SMASE office at 801 North Deneen, Staunton, IL (located in the Staunton Schools Library) during school hours before May 22, 2023.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING          On April 27, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., a meeting will be conducted by the South Macoupin Association for Special Education (SMASE) on behalf of Staunton CUSD 6, Mt. Olive CUSD 5, and Gillespie CUSD 7. The meeting will be held in the SMASE office, located in the Staunton CUSD 6 library, 801 North Deneen St, Staunton, IL 62088.  The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the districts’ plan for providing special education services to students with disabilities who attend private and home schools within the districts for the 2023-24 school year. If you are the parent of a home schooled student with a disability and reside within the boundaries of one of the three SMASE districts, or are a representative of a private school within district boundaries, you are urged to attend.
